W.R. Grace exclusive periods extended through July 2007 hearing to allow claims estimation

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 3 - W.R. Grace & Co.'s exclusive plan filing and solicitation periods were extended through a July 2007 omnibus hearing, and the company's future asbestos claimants' representative appealed the extension, according to Tuesday filings with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

According to the motion for the extension, hearings on estimation of asbestos claims must be completed before a consensual plan of reorganization can be filed.

In July, W.R. Grace said the estimation trial would be scheduled for June 2007 or later.

W.R. Grace, a Columbia, Md.-based specialty chemicals company, filed for bankruptcy on April 2, 2001. Its Chapter 11 case number is 01-01139.
