W.R. Grace gets nod to make $24 million in pension plan contributions

Pittsburgh, June 18 - W.R. Grace & Co. obtained court approval to make $24 million in contributions to its defined benefit pension plans for the period of July 15 to Jan. 15, 2009, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company said the contributions must be made to maintain compliance under federal minimum funding requirements.

Specifically, a $20,284 contribution is due July 15; a $10.53 million contribution is due Sept. 15; a $5.82 million contribution is due Oct. 15; and a $7.6 million contribution is due on Jan. 15, 2009.

W.R. Grace, a Columbia, Md.-based specialty chemicals company, filed for bankruptcy on April 2, 2001. Its Chapter 11 case number is 01-01139.
