WorldCom defers interest on QUIPS

New York, June 19 - WorldCom, Inc. said its MCI Communications Corp. subsidiary has chosen to defer interest on its 8.00% junior subordinated deferrable interest debentures series A which means that MCI Capital I will not be paying interest on its 8.00% cumulative quarterly income preferred securities series A.

The action is effective with interest payments starting on June 30, 2002.

The terms of the securities allow interest to be deferred for up to 20 consecutive quarters.
