MCI claim holders get an extension on choosing notes or stock to Jan. 20

Washington, Jan. 8 - MCI, formerly WorldCom, Inc., extended its deadline for claims holders in classes 5, 11 and 13 to submit their election forms to 4.15 p.m. ET on Jan. 20.

Jan. 9 was the deadline until this extension.

The forms allow claims holders to choose to notes and/or common stock of the reorganized company.

MCI, an Ashburn, Va.-based telecommunications provider, plans to emerge from bankruptcy this quarter, according to an informed source.
