World Health Alternatives fails to file taxes, IRS requests case be converted to Chapter 7 or dismissed

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Aug. 23 - The Internal Revenue Service requested World Health Alternatives, Inc.'s Chapter 11 case be converted to Chapter 7 for liquidation or dismissed for failure to file tax returns or pay taxes, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

According to the motion, World Health has not filed its income tax returns for 2002, 2004 and 2005, as well as the returns of various subsidiaries for 2004 and 2005.

The IRS said the company's 2005 returns were due on March 15, and World Health did not receive a filing extension.

As a result, the IRS said the company has caused a substantial loss to the estate, and rehabilitation is not likely.

A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25.

Based in Pittsburgh, World Health Alternatives provides staffing services for the medical industry. It filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 20. Its Chapter 11 case number is 06-10166.
