Winn-Dixie records $4.31 million operating loss for Feb. 9 to March 8

Pittsburgh, March 29 - Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. reported a $4.31 million operating loss for the period of Feb. 9 to March 8 on revenues of $600.45 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.

For the period of Jan. 12 to Feb. 8, the company posted a $12.77 million operating loss on revenues of $584.72 million.

The net loss for the latest period was $7.58 million, improved from a $15.82 million net loss for the period ended Feb. 8.

Cash and cash equivalents on March 8 were $94.88 million, compared with $89.61 million on Feb. 8.

Winn-Dixie, a Jacksonville, Fla., supermarket company, filed for Chapter 11 on Feb. 21, 2005 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The case was later transferred to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-03817.
