Winn-Dixie posts $17.13 million operating loss for four weeks ended Aug. 23

Pittsburgh, Sept. 15 - Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. reported a $17.13 million operating loss for the four weeks ended Aug. 23 on $527.77 million in revenues, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The figures show a decline from an $11.77 million operating loss for the four weeks ended July 26 on $551.29 million in revenues.

The net loss for the latest period was $2.48 million, down from a $14.43 million net loss the month before.

Cash and cash equivalents on Aug. 23 were $257.56 million, compared with $194.36 million on July 26.

Winn-Dixie, a Jacksonville, Fla., supermarket company, filed for Chapter 11 on Feb. 21, 2005 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The case was later transferred to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-03817.
