West Pharmaceutical gets new contract with largest customer

By Ted A. Knutson

Washington, Jan. 19 - West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. said it entered into a supply contract on Jan. 13 with Becton, Dickinson and Co.

Becton, Dickinson is West's largest customer, accounting for about 11% of West's 2004 consolidated net sales.

The contact replaces a similar earlier agreement.

The supply agreement covers all of West's products being sold to Becton, Dickinson, including Hemogar stoppers for use in Becton, Dickinson's blood-collection systems, elastomer components for Becton, Dickinson's prefilled syringes and plungers for Becton, Dickinson's disposable syringes, all made from West's formulations in a variety of colors, sizes and configurations.

Under the supply agreement, Becton, Dickinson has agreed to purchase 100% of its requirements for certain Hemogard stoppers and minimum annual quantities of certain other sizes.

West Pharmaceutical Services, based in Lionville, Pa., is a manufacturer of components and systems for injectable drug delivery.

The announcement was made in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
