S&P ups Waste Connections

Standard & Poor's said that it raised the corporate credit rating on Waste Connections Inc. to BBB from BBB-.

The upgrade reflects the company's good profitability, substantial and stable free cash flow generation and moderate financial policies consistent with a modestly higher rating, the agency said.

During the recent quarters following the depth of the economic recession, the company improved its credit measures, the agency added. The company is likely to continue to maintain these credit measures at levels that are consistent with the BBB corporate credit rating.
