By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 17 - Washington Mutual, Inc. has extended the deadline for holders of preferred and common stock in classes 19 and 22 to grant releases under the company's seventh amended plan of reorganization to March 7, according to a company news release.

The deadline was previously Feb. 28.

Stockholders who elect not to grant the releases will receive no distribution under the plan, the company said in the release.

Washington Mutual, a Seattle-based savings and loan holding company, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 26, 2008 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-12229.
