Washington Mutual class action ERISA litigation settlement approved

Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 21 - Washington Mutual Inc. request for approval of a June 18 class action ERISA litigation settlement was granted, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
As previously reported, contributing blended policy carriers will pay $49 million to the settlement class.
Washington Mutual, a Seattle-based savings and loan holding company, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sept. 26, 2008 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-12229.
