Walgreen files automatic shelf registration covering debt securities

Knoxville, Tenn., July 19 - Walgreen Co. filed a debt securities automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Proceeds from the securities, which may be structured as convertibles, will be used for general corporate purposes.

The drugstore chain is based in Deerfield, Ill.
