Waddell & Reed files automatic shelf registration

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 22 - Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers debt securities, warrants, class A common stock, preferred stock, depositary shares, stock purchase contracts and stock purchase units.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The Overland Park, Kan.-based financial planning company said proceeds from the offerings will be used for general corporate purposes.
