Wachovia to price 0% principal-protected notes linked to currencies

New York, Jan. 4 - Wachovia Corp. plans to price an issue of 0% principal-protected notes linked to a basket of emerging market currencies, according to a 424B5 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The underlying basket includes equal weights of the Brazilian real, the Russian ruble, the Indian rupee and the Chinese renminbi relative to the dollar.

The notes will price at par of $10.00.

At maturity, investors will receive the greater of par or the basket performance amount times a to-be-determined participation rate.

Wachovia Securities will be the underwriter.
