Fitch changes Banco Internacional de Costa Rica to negative

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed the issuer default ratings of Banco Internacional de Costa Rica, SA and revised its outlook to negative from stable.

The agency also affirmed the bank's viability ratings.

Fitch said the actions follow the Jan. 24 revision of the outlooks for the company’s parents, Banco de Costa Rica and Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, to negative from stable.

The outlook indicates that the issuer default ratings of the bank would be downgraded if the parents' issuer default ratings are downgraded.

A return of the parents' outlooks to stable would likely prompt a similar action on Banco Internacional de Costa Rica, the agency added.
