Moody's affirms Agrium

Moody's Investors Service said it affirmed Agrium Inc.'s Baa2 ratings following the announcement that Agrium has entered into a definitive agreement with Glencore International AG to acquire the majority of Viterra Inc.'s agriproducts business, upon completion of Glencore's announced acquisition of Viterra.

The outlook is stable.

The agency said the Baa2 ratings reflect the ample liquidity and capital resources Agrium has maintained, which can cover the cost of the proposed acquisition.
