Virtus: Exchanges between share classes of a fund are tax-free

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, March 8 - The Virtus Equity Trust, Virtus Insight Trust and Virtus Opportunities Trust reported in a 497 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that exchanges of shares from one class of a Virtus fund into another class of the same fund should not be subject to U.S. federal income taxes.

Each shareholder should consult both the relevant financial intermediary and his or her tax advisor as a caution, the filing noted.

Virtus funds' investment adviser is Hartford-based Virtus Investment Advisers, Inc.
