Fitch: Solid capital for Vietnam banks

Fitch Ratings said in a new report that solid revenue remains a valuable source for Vietnamese banks to generate much-needed capital, but it may not be sufficient for all of Fitch-rated banks.

The key concerns for Vietnamese banks are the lack of rigor in identifying non-performing loans, borrower quality and capital, Fitch said.

Despite notable strengthening in recent years, the agency said it considers the four major state-owned banks' capital and reserve coverage levels to be barely adequate.
