Frontier Communications sets meeting date for Verizon merger vote

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 16 - Frontier Communications Corp. shareholders will be asked to approve the company's proposed acquisition of New Communications Holdings Inc., a Verizon Communications Inc. subsidiary, at a special meeting at 9 a.m. ET on Oct. 27 in Stamford, Conn.

The record date for the meeting is Sept. 14, according to a 424B3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Frontier, a Stamford, Conn.-based communications company, will acquire approximately 4.8 million access lines and some related business assets from New York-based Verizon, the filing said.

Once the merger is completed, Frontier's current management will lead the combined company under the Frontier name.

Nine of Frontier's 12 board members will be members of the board of the combined company.

Frontier's shares will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "FTR."
