By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 13 - VeraSun Energy Corp. requested court approval to hire James J. Bonsall as chief restructuring officer, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company also wants to hire AP Services LLC as its crisis manager.

VeraSun said Bonsall will help it evaluate and implement strategic and tactical options through the restructuring process and will oversee the company's finance and accounting functions, as well as the commodities, operations, customer service and logistics groups.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2.

VeraSun, based in Brookings, S.D., produces renewable fuel. The company filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 31. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-12606.
