VarTec Telecom posts $5.95 million in May operating income

Pittsburgh, June 20 - VarTec Telecom Inc. reported operating income of $5.95 million in May on sales of $43.48 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Operating income for April was $6.63 million on sales of $44.51 million.

The net profit for May was $11.28 million, compared to a net loss of $369,000 in April.

Cash on May 31 was $15.27 million, down from $17.02 million at the end of April.

VarTec, a Dallas-based telecommunications provider, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 1, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-81694.
