VarTec granted 45-day exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 13 - VarTec Telecom, Inc. obtained a 45-day extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

The company's exclusive period to file a plan was extended to Nov. 22 from Oct. 7 and the solicitation period to Jan. 26, 2006 from Dec. 9.

In its motion, VarTec said the additional time will allow it to continue negotiating the terms of a plan of reorganization with its official committee of unsecured creditors.

VarTec, a Dallas-based telecommunications provider, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 1, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-81694.
