Van Kampen Series 1187 offers Inflation Hedge Portfolio units

San Diego, Feb. 6 - Van Kampen Unit Trusts, Series 1187 is offering units of its Inflation Hedge Portfolio, Series 4, according to an S-6 amendment filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The depositor is Houston-based Van Kampen Funds Inc.

The trust seeks above-average capital appreciation by investing in a portfolio that consists of exchange-traded funds and closed-end investment companies that invest in domestic and foreign stocks, fixed-income securities, commodities, Treasury Inflation-Protected securities, master limited partnerships and real estate investment trusts.

On the Feb. 6 initial date of deposit, $148,580 of contracts to purchase securities comprised the trust. The 15,009 units have an offering price of $10.00 and a net asset value of $9.555 each. The estimated net annual income is $0.44754 per unit.

Each unit will have a maximum sales charge of 3.95%, consisting of a 1% initial sales charge, a 2.45% deferred sales charge and a 0.5% creation and development fee. The sales charge may be reduced to 2.45% depending on the amount of investment.

The trust has a mandatory termination date of Feb. 10, 2014.
