Three Van Eck funds to convert class R1 shares to initial class shares

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, March 7 - Van Eck VIP Trust said that class R1 shares of the Van Eck VIP Emerging Markets Fund, the Van Eck VIP Global Bond Fund and the Van Eck VIP Global Hard Assets Fund will convert into the initial class shares of each respective fund on April 30, according to a 497 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Unlike the initial class shares, class R1 shares are subject to a redemption fee if held for 60 days or less. Class R1 shares converted or redeemed on April 30 will not be subject to this fee.

New York-based Van Eck Associates Corp. serves as the investment adviser to the fund.
