By Toni Weeks

San Luis Obispo, Calif., Feb. 27 - Banco Central do Brasil's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) announced that it unanimously decided to increase the Selic rate by 25 basis points to 10¾%. The bank last raised the rate in January by 50 bps to 10½%.

The decision is part of the bank's continuing adjustment process of the basic interest rate that was initiated at the April 2013 meeting.

This month's minutes will be released in Portuguese on March 6.
