Banco Central do Brasil keeps policy interest rate unchanged at 8¾%

By Marisa Wong

Milwaukee, Oct. 21 - The Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) of the Banco Central do Brasil decided to keep its policy interest rate at 8¾% at its meeting on Wednesday, according to a news release issued by the bank.

The interest rate is unchanged in view of inflation targets. The committee evaluates this interest rate as consistent with a calm inflationary scenario, which will help maintain inflation targets for a non-inflationary recovery of economic activity.
