S&P affirms Banca Comerciala Romana

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the BBB- long-term counterparty credit rating on Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR).

The outlook is stable.

According to S&P, the ratings reflect the bank's strategic importance to its parent Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG (A/stable/A-1), its commanding position in the Romanian financial market and its good liquidity and improving core profitability.

The ratings remain constrained by the bank's adversely classified loans, increasing competition, pressured margins, and economic and industry risks in the Romanian banking sector, the agency said.
