Tricom seeks partial summary judgment on claims estimate; hearing set for Aug. 6

By Rebecca Melvin

New York, July 25 - Tricom SA has asked for a partial summary judgment on estimation of the claims of Bancredit Cayman Ltd. and Bancredito (Panama) SA as part of confirmation of its pre-packaged joint Chapter 11 plan of reorganization from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

A hearing in connection with the motion will be held on Aug. 6.

The partial summary judgment hearing replaces a claims estimation trial that had been set for July 25.

Specifically, the company is asking the court to estimate Bancredit's alleged $120 million "wrongful transfer" claim at $120,000 and Bancredito's claim at zero.

Tricom, a full-service telecommunications provider based in the Dominican Republic, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 29. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10720.
