Travelers files automatic shelf covering debt, preferreds and stock

Knoxville, Tenn., Dec. 15 - Travelers Cos., Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers senior debt securities, subordinated debt securities, junior subordinated debt securities, preferred stock, depositary shares, common stock, warrants, stock purchase contracts and units, along with guaranteed preferred securities to be offered by Travelers' subsidiaries.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The company will describe in a prospectus supplement how it plans to use the proceeds.

Travelers is a St. Paul, Minn., provider of property casualty insurance.
