Fitch lowers Eskom

Fitch Ratings said it has downgraded Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. and Transnet SOC Ltd.

The rating actions follow the downgrade of South Africa's long-term local currency issuer default rating to BBB+ from A, outlook stable, and long-term foreign currency issuer default rating downgraded to BBB from BBB+, outlook stable.

Eskom and Transnet's ratings remain linked to those of the South African sovereign, based on Fitch's assessment of these issuers' legal, operational and strategic ties with the state.
