Texas Industries shareholder Shamrock ups stake ahead of proxy fight

Tacoma Wash., July 14 - Texas Industries, Inc. investors led by Shamrock Activist Value Fund, LP purchased 370,311 shares for $29.98 to $31.95 each.

The shares were purchased between July 6 and July 13, according to a schedule 13D/A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The investors beneficially own 2,826,556 shares, or 10.2%, of the company's common stock.

As previously reported, Shamrock plans to nominate three candidates for election to the company's board of directors at the 2009 annual meeting, which will be held Oct. 22.

Texas Industries is a Dallas-based supplier of heavy construction materials.
