United Microelectronics buys back $68 million 0% convertibles of 2016

Madison, Wis., Jan. 3 - United Microelectronics Corp. said that it repurchased and canceled $68 million of its zero-coupon convertible bonds due 2016 in open market transactions.
The buybacks occurred during the period from Dec. 2 to Dec. 18.
The original principal amount of the convertible bonds was $500 million.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan, United Microelectronics makes process integrated circuits for the semiconductor industry.
