Moody's ups U.S. life insurers views to stable

Moody's Investors Service said it affirmed the Aaa insurance financial strength ratings of the following US life insurers and changed their outlooks to stable from negative: New York Life Insurance Co., Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America.

Moody's said the affirmations and the outlook changes are primarily driven by the affirmation of the United States government's Aaa rating and reflect the companies' exceptional intrinsic strengths, including leading positions in their core markets and a significant focus on participating products, which lead to resilient balance sheets.

All three companies also have mutual or not-for-profit ownership structures that align the interests of policyholders/owners, creditors and company management, the agency said.
