S&P: Talisman Energy view negative

Standard & Poor's said it revised its outlook on Talisman Energy Inc. to negative from stable.

At the same time, the agency lowered its commercial paper rating on the company to A-3 from A-2.

The BBB long-term corporate credit and senior unsecured debt ratings on the company were affirmed. The preferred stock ratings of BB+ (global scale) and P-3(High) (Canada scale) are unchanged.

"The outlook revision and lower CP rating reflect our belief that there is significant execution risk as Talisman embarks on new strategic initiatives to increase production netbacks, improve operating efficiency, and strengthen the company's balance sheet," S&P credit analyst Aniki Saha-Yannopoulos said in a news release.
