Moody's turns Tajikistan view to stable

Moody's Investors Service said it affirmed Tajikistan's B3 long-term issuer and senior unsecured ratings and changed the outlook to stable from negative.

The stable outlook factors in the lower risk related to Russia’s deteriorating economic conditions because of the war in Ukraine. Tajikistan has continued to record high GDP growth, which has underpinned a large reduction in government debt and a fortification of its external position, Moody’ said.

“In addition, Tajikistan's closer engagement with the international community has helped to anchor economic and fiscal policy given its reliance on external concessional financing. While Moody's does not expect the Russia-Ukraine military conflict to be resolved in the near term, Tajikistan has accumulated financial buffers which makes it more resilient to the related downside risks than envisaged in 2022,” the agency said in a press release.
