S&P raises AIG Taiwan

Standard & Poor's said it raised its insurer financial strength and counterparty credit ratings on AIG General Insurance (Taiwan) Co. Ltd. to A+ from A.

The outlook is stable.

The agency said that the upgrade reflects the expectation that AIG Taiwan's operating performance will improve as it adopts the prudent underwriting practices and investment discipline of its parent, American International Group Inc. (AA/stable/A-1+).

The agency added that the ratings on AIG Taiwan continue to reflect the company's strategically important role within and implicit support from the AIG group because of its good market position in Taiwan's property and casualty insurance industry.
