By Paul A. Harris

St. Louis, Mo., July 11 - Swift & Co. will hit the road Tuesday to promote its offering of $400 million of senior notes due 2009, according to a syndicate source.

The roadshow wraps up on July 23, with pricing expected the following day.

The joint bookrunners are Salomon Smith Barney and JP Morgan.

The Rule 144A notes are non-callable for four years.

Proceeds will be used to fund the acquisition of 54% of ConAgra's US and Australian beef, pork and lamb operations by Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst.

The new company will be headquartered in Greeley, Colo.
