Microchip Technology owns 5.4% of Supertex

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 23 - Microchip Technology Inc. purchased 100,000 shares of Supertex, Inc. common stock between Dec. 5 and Dec. 19 for $25 each through the exercise of put options previously sold by Microchip, according to a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The investor beneficially owns 697,400 shares or 5.4% of the Sunnyvale, Calif., mixed signal semiconductor manufacturer.

Microchip Technology is a Chandler, Ariz.-based semiconductor producer.
