Avitar stock now trading under "AVRN"

New York, Aug. 29 - Avitar, Inc. said its stock is trading on the Pink Sheets under the symbol "AVRN" following its delisting effective Aug. 29 by the American Stock Exchange.

The company had previously said its stock would trade under "AVR."

Avitar said the exchange's action was based on its failure to comply with the exchange's listing standards due to losses and the resulting deficit of shareholders' equity.

When it announced the delisting on Aug. 25, Avitar said it intends that its stock will trade on the over-the-counter Bulletin Board. Until that happens, its shares will be quoted on the Pink Sheets.

Avitar is a Canton, Mass., company with products including a rapid, onsite oral fluid test for drug abuse and an absorbent topical dressing for moderate to heavy exudating wounds. It is also developing diagnostics to test for influenza, diabetes and pregnancy.
