SunAmerica International Small-Cap Fund to shift focus to Japan

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Oct. 31 - The board of trustees of the SunAmerica International Small-Cap Fund approved changes to the fund's name, principal investment strategy and subadviser, according to a 497 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Effective Jan. 27, the trust will be renamed the SunAmerica Japan Fund.

As of the same date, the fund's principal investment strategy will be country-specific investing, specifically the active trading of securities of companies located in or with primary operations in Japan. The current investment strategy involves pursuing a strategy of international investing in multiple countries and investing, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in equity securities and other securities with equity characteristics of non-U.S. small-cap companies throughout the world, including emerging market companies.

The new subadviser will be Wellington Management Co. LLP, replacing the current subadviser, PineBridge Investments LLC.

The fund's adviser is Jersey City-based SunAmerica Asset Management Corp.
