Sumner Regional Health seeks 95-day extension to exclusive periods

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., Aug. 30 - Sumner Regional Health Systems requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and to solicit votes on the plan, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.

The company wants to extend the exclusive plan-filing period to Dec. 5 from Aug. 30 and the solicitation period to Feb. 3 from Oct. 29.

Sumner said since filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on April 30, it has focused its efforts on marketing and selling substantially of its assets and closing the sale.

The company also said it hopes to have a plan of reorganization confirmed before the end of the year, but extending its exclusive periods by 95 days would help avoid the need for additional requests.

A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 20.

Sumner Regional, a Tennessee health care provider, filed for bankruptcy on April 30. Its Chapter 11 case number is 10-04766.
