Sterne Agee adds Jackson, four more to investment-grade bond sales

Chicago, May 18 - Sterne Agee said the fixed-income group expanded its investment-grade sales, trading and research platform with the hiring of Robert Jackson, Todd Morchower, Mike Grady, Chuck Finley and Gordon Graper.

Jackson joins Sterne Agee as the head of the investment-grade trading team from BB&T Capital Markets, where he ran the investment grade trading desk since 2005. The company said Jackson will be instrumental in helping take the investment-grade product at Sterne Agee to the next level.

Jackson has extensive exposure to secondary trading, proprietary trading, dealer sales and the syndicate aspects of the business. Jackson also has worked at Cantor Fitzgerald, Advest and Societe Generale.

Morchower joins Sterne Agee as an investment-grade salesman covering a wide variety of tier one mutual funds, insurance companies and money managers. Previously, Morchower was at BB&T Capital Markets, where he worked in the credit area. Before that, he was a fixed-income salesman at Craigie and Merrill Lynch.

Grady joins Sterne Agee as a credit salesman with 20 years of experience. He comes from BB&T Capital Markets, where he sold products for investment-grade, high-yield and convertible bonds and distressed credits. Grady also was a credit salesman at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Wheat First/First Union, Merrion Group and First Albany.

Finley joins Sterne Agee as an investment-grade analyst. He joins Sterne Agee from BB&T Capital Markets and before that, Finley was a credit and equity analyst at First Albany and Anderson-Strudwick.

Graper joins Sterne Agee as an investment-grade salesman. Graper comes from BB&T, where he completed the bank's credit training program and worked in the risk management group.

"We are excited about the opportunity to be able to add these key members to our Credit Group, which is led by Eric Needleman, senior managing director, in New York. This addition will help us round out our team and continue to build on our research and strategy led sales process that already exists on our credit and rates fixed-income platform," Cary Cooper, executive managing director, fixed income, said in a press release.

"These hires are a continuation of Sterne Agee's significant investment in the expansion of our fixed-income platform. The firm is excited for the opportunity to enhance our credit research and distribution capabilities for our clients," said Eric Needleman, senior managing director.
