Star Bulk Carriers files $250 million shelf

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 22 - Star Bulk Carriers Corp. filed a $250 million shelf registration in an F-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common shares, preferred shares, debt securities, warrants, purchase contracts and units.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used for capital expenditures, debt repayment, working capital, acquisitions and general corporate purposes.

Star is an Athens, Greece-based provider of transportation services for the dry bulk goods sector.
