S&P: Standard Commercial, Dimon unaffected

Standard & Poor's said Friday that the ratings and outlooks on tobacco dealers Universal Corp. (A-/stable/A-2), Standard Commercial Corp. (BB+/stable/--), and Dimon Inc. (BB/Watch negative/--) would not be affected by the European Commission's decision to fine the companies for colluding on the prices paid to, and the quantities bought from, the tobacco growers in Spain.

The fines on Standard Commercial's subsidiaries totaled about €1.8 million. The fines on Dimon's subsidiaries totaled about €2.6 million. The fines on Universal's two subsidiaries totaled about €$12.0 million.
