S&P changes StanCorp to stable

S&P said it revised its outlook on StanCorp Financial Group Inc. and its primary operating subsidiary, Standard Insurance Co., to stable from negative.

At the same time, the agency affirmed its A+ financial strength ratings on Standard Insurance and its BBB+ long-term counterparty credit rating on the holding company.

S&P said the actions follow its assignment of strategically important group status with insulation to StanCorp within the Meiji Yasuda group, which allows for a rating one notch higher than the A group credit profile on Meiji Yasuda. Within the group, the agency expects StanCorp to operate largely independent from Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Co.
