S&P: Southern Electric notes A

Standard & Poor's said it assigned an A rating on Southern Electric Generating Co.'s $100 million series 2013A senior unsecured notes due Dec. 1, 2018, reflecting the credit profiles of its joint owners, Alabama Power Co. and Georgia Power Co.

The A issuer credit rating and negative outlook on Southern Electric Generating is unchanged, S&P said.

S&P said it reviewed the ratings on Southern Co. and all of its rated subsidiaries, which were under observation, after the publishing of its revised criteria Nov. 19.

The agency said it expedited the review of its ratings on Southern and all its subsidiaries because of Southern Electric Generating's announced debt issue.

The group's other ratings were confirmed and unaffected by the criteria changes, S&P said.
