Southaven Power seeks two-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 22 - Southaven Power, LLC requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

The company wants to extend its exclusive plan-filing period to Jan. 15 from Nov. 16 and the solicitation period to March 17 from Jan. 16.

Southaven said the extension is necessary to determine the timing and distribution under an NEGT Energy Trading - Power, LP claims settlement and the amount of proceeds it will receive under a proposed sale of its plant.

A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.

Southaven Power is an energy and transportation company based in Southaven, Miss. It filed for bankruptcy on May 20, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-32141.
