By Jeff Pines

Washington, Jan. 7 - The U.S. trustee for Solutia, Inc.'s Chapter 11 case, Greg Zipes, appointed nine creditors to a committee of unsecured creditors.

The members are: Rodney Carter of Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp.; Nate Van Duzer of Fidelity Management & Research Corp.; Mary Ann Minjarez of Shell Chemical, LP; James Lewis of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank; Charles Hardy of Austin Industries; Robert Paley of Monsanto Co.; Nicholas Tell, Jr. of Trust Company of the West; Daniel Arbess of Xerion Partners I, LLC; and Yusuke Orito of Toray Industries.

St. Louis-based Solutia filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 17 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to get relief from its legal liabilities the company assumed when it was spun off from the former Monsanto Co., now Pfizer's Pharmacia subsidiary.
