Chile's Sociedad Quimica y Minera considering refinancing proposals

New York, June 30 - Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile SA said it is considering "several" proposals to refinance its long-term debt.

The possible transactions are from the public and private debt markets as well as from the equity markets, the Santiago, Chile, nitrate mining company said in a 20-F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Sociedad Quimica y Minera added that it believes it faces "no significant refinancing risk" considering its current financial structure.

As of Dec. 31, 2003, the company had total debt of $324.1 million.
