Smiths Medical wins contract for disposable anesthesia products

Philadelphia, July 17 - Smiths Medical said Monday it has been awarded participation in a multi-million dollar agreement with Premier Purchasing Partners group purchasing organization.

This three-year contract, effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2009, represents Premier's renewed commitment to purchase from Smiths Medical's Disposable Anesthesia product portfolio, according to a company news release.

This award positions Smiths Medical as a full line provider of disposable anesthesia products for the about 1,500 acute care facilities that encompass this GPO's membership.

Premier, based in San Diego, helps hospitals accelerate performance on both clinical outcomes and supply chain costs.

Smiths Medical is a Carlsbad, Calif., maker of medical devices used for a variety of therapeutic, diagnostic and surgical procedures. Smiths Medical is part of Smiths Group plc, a London-based company.
